RBackup Cloud Services

Cloud Services Support is currently available to Priority Maintenance customers with RBackup version 11.7 or greater.

RBackup's Cloud Services support can store backups to any Cloud Service that provides a mapped drive letter or folder name. This includes Google Drive, DropBox, and others, including a standard VPN. Backups are fully encrypted and compliant while in storage at the cloud service.

A separate Cloud Service account is required. Many cloud service providers have free accounts with enough storage space for an average workstation. Select one that can map a local drive letter or folder.

Backups can be sent to the RBS Server and to a Cloud Service simultaneously, or to a Cloud Service only. With RBackup v11.7's Redundant Hybrid Backup (RHB) you can also send backups to a local device. For more on Redundant Hybrid Backup [click here].

Before backing up to a Cloud Service the RBackup Client software must authenticate to the RBS Server, and must be authorized for Cloud Backup. This keeps backups in the control of the RBS Partner. Backups to any source can only be done if the Client has an active account with the RBS Server.

In case of an emergency that limits connectivity with the RBS Server, restores can be done without authentication to the RBS Server.

The RBackup Client software replicates its RBS Server data store completely in the Cloud. It is a complete duplicate of everything sent to the RBS Server, and using RHB, sent to a local drive.

Restoring from Cloud Services is automatic and requires no additional user input. Data can also be restored from a Cloud Services account without the RBackup Client software by using the Restore From Disk utility included with the RBackup software.

RBS Partners can turn the Cloud Service feature ON or OFF in the Customize Client Installer utility.

Backups sent to a Cloud Service are sent directly from the RBackup client software and use no bandwidth or disk resources of the RBS Server.
