Problem: Client reports that it cannot log into an RBS Server, or the online Server Tester reports “Invalid Login” or User name or password incorrect when it has been verified that there is an active account matching the username and password on the Server.
This problem is always accompanied by the following note in the Client’s log file, and occurs only when the Client (not the RBS Server) is set to use Port 21:
RECV:220 servidor_proxy Microsoft FTP Service (Version 3.0).
SEND: OPEN [host_name].ddns.rbsnet.net
RECV:500 ‘OPEN [host_name].ddns.rbsnet.net’: command not understood
SEND: TYPE I
RECV:530 Please login with USER and PASS.
This is attempting to connect to Microsoft FTP server, not the RBS Server.
note: 220 servidor_proxy Microsoft FTP Service (Version 3.0).
IIS contains an ftp server by default on port 21, and this appears to indicate that the RBS Client attempting to talk to IIS ftp server instead of a regular RBS Server
Disable the FTP Server.
The IIS FTP server operates on port 21. It is called “FTP Publishing Service” in the Services Manager. Stop the process, then disable it from starting. Reboot the computer, and this problem should be solved.
You can also move the RBS Server and its Clients to Port 2774 to solve this problem if you MUST keep the IIS FTP Server running. RBS STRONGLY recommends that you disable the FTP server.
