desktop.ini is created in folders by Windows to store various folder settings. It is made visible/hidden by folder options.
It is usually a hidden file and shouldn’t show in Windows Explorer if you turn off Hidden Files in Folder Options. It shows in Remote Backup because we allow you to also select from hidden files.

desktop.ini is created by Windows XP not the RBS software. It saves changes to settings for the viewing of that folder. You can view them in notepad, but deleting them is probably not a good idea. I see several problem threads started by people deleting them, particularly in special folders, like My Documents.
