The Online Installer PlugIn allows the RBS Client software to be installed from a link on a web site - any web site. It is a set of files that you can copy to your web site. It requires no connection to your RBS Server, so it can be hosted on any web server.

Customers using it must have a JavaScript enabled browser - that’s most of them these days. Browsers before IE 4.0 might have trouble with it because of this, and they might not.

Prior to March 1, 2002 the Online Installer was embedded and included in the RBS Server software. After that it was removed from the main software, updated to support a wider range of browsers, and compiled into a PlugIn that is sold separately.

There have been no updates to the embedded version since March, 2002.

The Online Installer PlugIn works with all Web Servers.

There has been a little trouble reported using Web Servers that use Front Page extensions which are set up improperly. If you experience problems with the Online Installer PlugIn, update to the latest version and turn off Front Page Extensions for the directory containing the Online Installer PlugIn files.

RBS cannot help you edit the settings of your Web Server, other than what is found in this Knowledge Library. Refer to your Web Server’s documentation or contact your web host or ISP.
